"CHRONOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF THE THIRD DYNASTY. A RE-EXAMINATION OF DOCUMENTS"

In order to clarify the chronological sequence of the Third Dynasty sovereigns, the first systematic re-examination of both reliefs and royal sealings has been carried out. This research, now in its final phases, has shed light onto new elements which may demonstrate the presence of at least one predecessor of Djoser in the early IIIrd Dynasty (Sanakht). It has been also analyzed the markedly centralized organization of Egypt, which studies about this period traditionally consider it to be still an "archaic state".
